Islam is head of the “Rom” Excellence in Education track at Sakhnin Academic College. A fellow in the fourth cohort of the Mandel Program for Academic Leadership in Teacher Education, she is a lecturer and researcher in education and early childhood education. She completed her post-doctoral research at the Academia-Field Partnerships Center for Pedagogical Research at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. She holds a PhD from Ben-Gurion University, with her doctoral thesis examining the pedagogical discourse of school teachers in Arab education in Israel. Via Yotzrim Atid, she aims to realize the belief that education is hope, and that through the power of togetherness, Jews and Arabs can create meaningful partnerships that transform reality, proving that we all have the right and the duty to make an impact. She lives in Nazareth.
